Marks Engineering, P.C. is a full-service engineering firm located in Canandaigua, NY, providing Civil & Environmental Engineering, Land Surveying, and Landscape Architectural services to the Finger Lakes and Upstate New York region. We specialize in residential, agricultural/industrial, corporate/commercial and municipal services.


Our Team

Brennan Marks, P.E.

Principal Engineer/CEO

Brennan is the founder of the Engineering division of Marks Engineering. He started the business in 2014 after many years of experience in the construction and engineering industries. Prior to founding Marks Engineering, Brennan worked for the DiMarco Companies in both estimating and project management capacities. Brennan also has experience working for other Engineering firms including Clark Patterson Lee and Dunn & Sgromo Engineers.

Brennan specializes in Civil and Environmental engineering. He graduated with an Associates Degree in Engineering Science from Alfred State prior to graduating with an Environmental Engineering Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in 2008. He became a licensed Professional Engineer in 2013. Brennan has the unique experience of having grown up in the construction industry working with his father’s general contracting business for years before graduating college with an engineering degree. Not only can he draw sites and structures, but he also understands what is needed to build it. Brennan has excellent relationships with many local contractors and architects.

In his free time, Brennan enjoys hanging out with his family (wife Stephanie, son Finley, daughter Reagan, son Declan) and their pets. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing, and conservation.

Lindsey Tidd

Project & Marketing Coordinator

Lindsey is the Project & Marketing Coordinator at Marks Engineering. She joined the team in 2017 as the Administrative Manager. Before joining the team in 2017, she worked for the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY as the Program Coordinator from 2011- 2013 and as the Administrative Coordinator until 2017. Lindsey has an extensive background in customer service and information management. She graduated from Syracuse University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Art.

Jessica Rogers

Financial & Administrative Assistant

Jessica is one of our newest team members at Marks Engineering having joined us in October of 2021. She grew up in West Walworth and currently resides in Clifton Springs with her family which includes a son, two daughters and three pets. Jessica has worked for a few small businesses in the area and is excited to put her admin skills and love of numbers to good use within the company.

She loves to craft and spends a lot of her free time volunteering for Scouts (a lot). Jessica is a Girl Scout Troop Leader and helps to oversee all of the Girl Scout troops within two school districts. She also helps with cookies. She's trained in archery and tomahawks (and first aid) and is lucky to have a group of girls who love to camp as much as she does. 

Logan Rockcastle, RLA

Landscape Architect

Logan has a long history in aspects of horticulture and Landscape Architecture, with over 30 years in the horticulture field and nearly 10 years in Landscape Architecture. Logan's broad knowledge of plant materials, and the design and construction process allow for highly comprehensive and detailed Landscape Architecture and Planning projects. Prior to joining the Marks Engineering team, Logan worked as a planner and landscape designer at BME associates.

Logan's specialization is Landscape Architecture and Planning and holds degrees from both FLCC's horticulture program and Cornell University’s Department of Landscape Architecture. Logan is also a Finger Lakes native, growing up in the hills of Middlesex and has a keen interest in the natural aspects of the area, often using native elements in his designs. This is one of the reasons why he has chosen Landscape Architecture as a profession. To create spaces that incorporate a love for horticulture, while reflecting the natural beauty of the rural landscape into the newly built environment.

Jonathan Jones

Engineer I

Jonathan joined Marks Engineering in the summer of 2021. A graduate of Clarkson University, he has 5 years of experience with a diverse background designing a variety of engineering projects. Prior to joining the Marks Engineering team, he worked for BME Associates. Jon grew up in the Sodus Bay area and presently resides in Australia. He is an engineering intern (EIT) currently studying for his Professional Engineer Licensure and is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. His specialties include:

-NYSDEC stormwater design & preparation of SWPPP

Michael Francisco

Engineer I/IT Manager

Mike joined Marks Engineering in 2017. He is one of our Engineers and our resident IT Manager. Mike does so much behind the scenes at the office to make things run smoothly and efficiently day in and day out. Mike is a graduate of SUNY Oswego with a BFA in Graphic Design. He has over 7 years of residential/commercial media & technology installation experience including home theaters, stereo systems, network setup, PC setup & repair, and appliance & TV repair. As an Engineer Mike's areas of expertise are:

  • Septic Design
  • Soil Testing
  • Architectural Plans

In his spare time, Mike enjoys creating synth music and playing guitar. He is a horror movie buff and enjoys listening to and collecting records.

David Parrinello, P.L.S.

Principal Land Surveyor

Dave is the Principal Land Surveyor at Marks Engineering. He teamed up with Dave Freeland in 1991 and together they led Freeland-Parrinello Land Surveyors until 2017 when Dave Freeland retired. Marks Engineering acquired Freeland-Parrinello in 2017 and the rest is history. Before his partnership at Freeland-Parrinello, Dave worked for various offices including: R. Ronald Kreiling, LS, CE located in Ontario, NY, L.E.K. Associates of Rochester, NY, Monroe County Survey Office, and was at one time the Monroe County Highway Maintenance Supervisor. He then Partnered with Environmental Design & Research before his partnership with Dave Freeland.

Dave studied science and English literature at SUNY Oswego, computer science/programming at SUNY Brockport and R.I.T. and studied land surveying at SUNY Alfred.

In his free time, Dave is an avid golfer, participating in annual golf leagues and tournaments. He enjoys computer programming, aviation and spending time with friends and family.

Brian Hemminger

Senior Survey Technician

Brian is our Senior Survey Technician here at Marks Engineering. He started off as a young 20- year-old with a small survey company in Farmington and fell in love with surveying. After bouncing between a few land-survey and civil engineering companies for 33 years he ended up here at Marks Engineering in late 2017. He heads up most of the fieldwork for our survey and engineering jobs. Whether small city lots or large rural ones you will find Brian out in the field winter, spring, summer or fall.

When not traipsing around the swamps, woods, or city streets he is a family man. Camping, kayaking, and hiking with his wife, kids and grandchild is where you will find Brian. An active member of the United Church of Phelps and being mayor of the Village of Phelps since 2015 keeps him plenty busy in his spare time.

Keith Burley

Surveyor I

Josh Malone

Land Survey Technician

Josh grew up in Virginia Beach, from a young age he spent most of his time farming 5,000 acres of corn, wheat, and soy beans with his father. He moved to New York in 2008. Josh worked for a chemical company for 8 years, and transitioned to the NYSDOT for 3 years before coming to Marks Engineering in 2021.

Josh loves hiking and being outside, which is one of the many reasons he loves working as a survey technician. Josh enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He loves horticulture, so in his free time he can be found planting/tending to his trees and flowers. He is constantly expanding his gardens.
