About the Opportunity

Marks Engineering is a multi-disciplinary civil, structural, and landscape architecture firm serving municipalities, developers, and private property owners throughout the Finger Lakes region. We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern Co-Op to join our team for the 2025–2026 academic year.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects with a team of experienced professionals in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in Project Planning: Work alongside senior engineers to help plan and define project scopes, objectives, and requirements.
Support Design Efforts: Aid in developing technical designs through drafting, calculations, and modeling.
Data Collection & Analysis: Conduct research and analyze data on project sites, environmental conditions, and construction materials.
Conduct Field Inspections: Visit job sites to observe progress and ensure alignment with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
Drafting & Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized project documents including reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
Use of Engineering Software: Apply engineering software tools for drafting (AutoCAD/Civil 3D), design, and project management.
Team Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, landscape architects, contractors, municipalities, and project managers to support project delivery.
Ongoing Research: Stay informed about current civil engineering codes, trends, technologies, and best practices.
Problem Solving: Assist in troubleshooting design or construction issues and recommending potential solutions.
Ensure Safety Compliance: Help uphold health and safety regulations across all engineering activities.
Professional Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Civil Engineering or related undergraduate program (junior or senior preferred)
  • Strong interest in site/civil engineering and municipal infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D a plus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional field work
